Whilst DIGDESIGN is based in Setagaya, Tokyo, our practice extends beyond borders in countries like Mexico, Canada, Cambodia, and Mongolia with an international team who speak Japanese, English, and Spanish, eliminating language barrier. We are commited to undertake projects worldwide and bring our ideas through architecture and design.

Each new site has its idiosyncrasies. Each client has his or her peculiar need. Each project begs different questions and beckons unique answers. Architecture resides in the middle in tension, between earth and sky, between clients and architects, between desires and constraints, waiting for its form to emerge from human imagination.
A shape of architecture at its purest form should arise from these factors and environment. We are not arbiters of style nor impose one on a project. Rather, we provide unique design solutions to individual project, always open to client's ideas, and flexibly adapt and constantly pursue the best results and incarnations.
We see architectural process as a collaborative effort. The vision and the courage of our clients inspire us to use our expertise as architects to realize their dream into reality. Along the way, we seek help from the best of each field, from engineers, contractors, builders to designers of other disciplines.

ABOUT US
Since 2001 Yuichiro Shima, founder of Dig Design, had been working independently, designing houses among others. Dig Design was officially established in 2012 and is located in a quiet residential district of Seijo, not far from the bustling center of Tokyo.
To “DIG” for an idea, and dig even deeper for the profound, is our attitude towards design. It is like searching for gold in mine, because in design, there is always “a better solution.” We analyze a project from multiple vantage points and ask many questions. That is the process of “digging”.
Our staff consists of qualified personnel, each with distinctive backgrounds and his or her own unique expertise. We place importance in dialogue, respect for each other and his or her opinion, and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. We are a laboratory of ideas.
