3D CAFÉ

2018

This coffee-shop-meets-coworking-office has an added bonus of access to 3D printers. On top of that, coffee is prepared by robots. The futuristic cafe begs for equally ambitious architecture that is reflected in the design. The cafe is planned to be opened in two locations, Omotesando and Ochanomizu.

The tubes that surround the space symbolize the passage of time from the present to the future like a wormhole. They are fabricated from oak 7 centimeters in diameter stained in white. Sometimes an entirely white interior could appear cold and impersonal, so the wood is used to offset the otherwise minimalist, sanitized space. A clear finish was selected for the tables that require tactile quality. All in all, the cafe of tomorrow still manages to be a warm, optimistic place.
